**About the role**
In your new role as a Commis Chef, you will utilise your creative flair and passion for food to ensure highquality food production for hotel outlets, which meets the standards expected by Hilton Hotels.
Part of the wider Kitchen team, you will work autonomously and manage your time and workspace accordingly, in order to prepare the daily required food for various culinary operations within the hotel, while ensuring all hygiene and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements are consistently met.
Reporting to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, you will work on a rotating shift basis, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will be a self starter, ableto motivate & organise yourself, who enjoys autonomy in your role.
**Duties/responsibilities**
* Conduct all necessary mis-en-place required by the kitchen team in a timely manner
* Reduce and avoid food wastage
* Manage and maintain a clean working environment
* Work effectively within the Kitchen team to ensure high food standards
* Meet all hygiene and WHS requirements
* Prepare meals for In Room Dining ove
ight menu as received
* Assist with general food preparation for the various hotel kitchens for the coming dayi.e. breakfast preparation as required by the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef
**Skills/experience**
* Previous Apprentice chef or Commis chef experience
* Confident communication skills and positive manner
* Excellent planning, organising and time management skills
* Ability to work within a team
* The flexibility, willingness and availability to work weekends, and ove
ight shifts on a rotating roster
* And, of course, someone who takes great pride in producing high quality food at all times
